We're a bunch of writers. That is what we are. May we count the ways …
Hello! We are the Carolina Piedmont Writers Guild.
Our objective is to welcome, support, encourage, and mentor writers of all forms, genres, perspectives, and levels of expertise. New writers and writers-to-be are always welcome. We don't have a formal membership. You are a "member" if you participate, submit, or merely cheer us on!
The Guild also holds an annual contest (The Carolina Prize) and publishes a yearly literary journal (County Lines).
The Carolina Piedmont Writers Guild Inc. is a a 501(c)(3), non-profit, 509(a)(2), public charity.
Authors and Publications
Many of our members also publish books, pamphlets, chapbooks, and lots of things. Their work has also been included in many third-party publications and journals. Here's an incomplete list (as of December 2023) of our published "members" and how to take a better look at their work:
The CP Writers Guild: County Lines: A Literary Journal (poetry, prose, imagery, all genres). Most of the authors listed below have also been published within the pages of County Lines.
Donna Campbell Smith: 13 of her titles can be found [here]. Donna has written loads of equestrian how-to books as well as published poetry, novels, and short stories. Julia Fisher: Short prose and poetry have been her focus, but now Julia is working on her first book-length travelogue chronicling her experience trekking 2250 miles across Mongolia by horseback with 16 others. There's a lot to say about that that we can't fit here, but it's rather amazing. And in the process, they raised $15ok for impoverished Mongolian children. These are things Julia does. Wow. Rebecca W. Wheeler: An award-winning writer of children's books and young adult fiction—picture books, even!—which this web page author thinks is particularly awesome. And so is Rebecca. Her latest is When Mama Grows with Me. Find out more at rebeccawwheeler.com.
Jenny Bates: An accomplished poet, Jenny has published a number of poetry collections. Her latest, Essential, has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize 2024.
Wayne Tamberelli: A writer of many short stories and poetry, and for various magazines and journals, Wayne has recently released his first novel, a suspense thriller, The Lady in the Window.
